Off-Panel: April 8, 2015

Our daily round-up of news around the comics space, from the gutters and beyond.

“We’ve already talked about how writer Jeff Lemire and artist Dustin Nguyen’s Descender is already one of the great scifi comics of 2015. Issue #2 of the hit Image comic arrives in stores tomorrow, so we talked to Nguyen about his five biggest artistic inspirations for the universe he helped create.”

Descender is a gorgeous comic, so this is worth the read

“The entire “Star Wars” saga, from “The Phantom Menace” to “Return of the Jedi,” will arrive Friday on digital HD for the first time ever.”

Worth noting, but $20 for a digital copy of a movie that isn’t a new release? That seems steep. Especially for the prequels.

“Comic artists have bandied together in in recent days to raise money for a fellow artist under the headline of #TorresBenefit. The benefit is for Wilfredo Torres, artist of the forthcoming Jupiter’s Circle series with Mark Millar at Image, whose wife Monica passed away recently after a long fight with cancer.”

I put #TorresBenefit in a previous Off-Panel, but I felt that it was worth a second link because it’s a good cause.
