Inbox/Outbox: August 12, 2016

In Inbox/Outbox, we document the rhythm of readers’ lives by sharing comics we acquired, the comics we finished, and the next comics we plan to read each week.

Inbox (Comics Acquired)

Kim & Kim #1Kim & Kim #1 by Mags Visaggio, Eva Cabrera, and Claudia Aguirre (Black Mask Studio)

A comic described as “queer as hell.” An all-lady creative team. Bounty hunters in space. Why wouldn’t I want to read this as soon as possible?

Yowamushi Pedal, Vol. 3 by Wataru Watanabe (Yen Press)

I love watching cycling; it’s by far my favorite sport, and I’m a bit obsessed with it. With the (sort of dreadful) NBC Olympics coverage barely showing cycling events, I’m having to get my fix elsewhere, so I was incredibly excited to get the third volume of this excellent sports manga in the mail. I’ll be reading this while watching livestreams of cycling events at the Olympics!

Outbox (Comics Finished)

mooncopMooncop by Tom Gauld (Drawn & Quarterly)

A comic about a cop at a lunar colony that is slowly being abandoned? With my obsessions with all things space, I received this and immediately sat down to read it. I loved the absurdist humor and bittersweet story, and the art is just great. I definitely recommend picking this up when it comes out!

In the Queue (What I’m Reading Next)

star wars original trilogy graphic novelStar Wars: The Original Trilogy Graphic Novel – Alessandro Pastrovicchio

I found out this existed and immediately knew I needed to have it. BECAUSE STAR WARS.

Vinland Saga, Vol. 1 by Makoto Yukimara (Kodansha Comics)

I’ve been hearing about this historical manga about Vikings for a really long time, and I’ve had the first volume sitting on my shelf for ages. I finally pulled it off and set it aside to dive into soon; I have been wishing for more historical fiction comics lately, and it’s a shame I haven’t read this yet.

How about you? What comics did you read this week?
